Reflexology is a complementary therapy that goes beyond the symptoms of an illness to treat the cause. Our feet, hands and even our ears, work as a map for all the internal organs of our body, therefore in applying pressure to specific areas; massage is used as a vehicle to promote physiological changes in the body.

As pressure is applied to specific regions it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, aiding the restoration and maintenance of the body’s natural equilibrium. There is no requirement to remove any clothing except shoes and socks (for foot reflexology!). A treatment will typically last 1 hour, resulting in improved circulation, stimulating the body’s own natural pain relief, to boost and balance the immune system.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions offering:

  • Increased relaxation
  • Release of tension
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved mood
  • Increased well being

Many find it useful to help maintain health and general well-being and also for calming the mind and body, therefore counteracting stress.

Reflexology does not claim to prescribe, diagnose or cure illness and professional medical advice should always be sought.

Blend the art of reflexology with hot stones to experience a wonderfully tranquil and calming treatment.

Hot Stone Reflexology uses Basalt stones. Comprised of various minerals, such as iron, magnesium and olivine. Basalt is a completely natural resource, solid and firm in its nature, with the additional benefit of being excellent at retaining heat. The stones vary in size, shape and texture – each of them are unique. As with traditional reflexology, treatment is bespoke according to your individual needs, and stones are chosen for you on that basis.

Perhaps surprisingly – given their hard volcanic nature, they combine beautifully with a lighter touch reflexology technique. Light oil is used to facilitate the gentle movement of the basalt stones over your feet, producing a truly relaxing treatment.

Why might you include Hot Stones in your reflexology treatment?

Just because you want to – it’s as good a reason as any! Equally, others of you may be interested in experiencing the therapeutic qualities associated with heat. Heat is thought to provide improved circulation and metabolism, so ideal if you need a boost, or if your energy is low. The application of heat relaxes the Peripheral Nervous System, increasing movement and reducing tension. This is a wonderful treatment when it’s cold outside!

All contraindications found in reflexology apply to this treatment, and there are some additional areas to be considered specific to stone therapy:

  • Heat sensitivity
  • Any nervous condition where feeling or sensation is compromised
  • Varicose veins (we would not work with heat if you suffer from this)
  • Pregnancy
  • Migraine (during an attack)

Combine Aromatherapy with Reflexology to enhance your treatment. Enjoy the union of two time-honoured therapies, and stimulate your senses!

Aromatherapy is an ancient treatment derived from herbalism. It’s a vast specialism that can require a lifetime of learning. As a Clinical Reflexologist, I have a growing interest in this area, and am qualified and insured to use the following fabulous essential oils to provide ‘Aromatherapy for the Feet’ as part of your reflexology treatment:

  • Bergamot
  • Chamomile
  • Fennel
  • Ginger
  • Juniperberry
  • Lavender
  • Lemon
  • Marjoram
  • Myrrh
  • Patchouli
  • Spearmint
  • Tea Tree

Essential oils are the organic essences of aromatic plants. In their concentrated form, each possess distinctive therapeutic properties and aromas. You will have your own individual requirements of a treatment, and will therefore benefit from a blend of oils to support your wellbeing. This blend is then combined with a nourishing carrier oil, (I use organically grown Sunflower seed) where it’s massaged into the skin and simultaneously inhaled. As a result, the essential oil is absorbed through the skin and lungs.

Aromatherapy for the Feet is a delightful holistic treatment, contributing to wellbeing physically, mentally and emotionally. Essential oils are fantastic at stimulating the immune system, combined with reflexology to promote the flow of blood and lymph.

Studies reveal the relaxation benefits of touch therapies, which can decrease blood pressure and heart rate, calm nerves and reduce tension.

Appropriate use of essential oils aids wellbeing and encourages vitality and resilience against the every day stresses ad strains of modern life!

* You are welcome include essential oils in your treatments after your initial consultation appointment. This is to ensure any contraindications to specific essential oils are taken into account prior to treatment.

Originating in India over one thousand years ago, Indian Head Massage is now gaining popularity in the West. Based on ancient Ayurvedic techniques, Gandhi is amongst its champions. He enjoyed a daily massage, crediting Indian Head Massage with stimulating his energy levels and keeping him in touch with his spiritual mind.

This delightful therapy, involves massage of the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, ears and face. Incorporating firm, yet gentle rhythmic movements and acupressure points, we focus on key areas of the body, such as the neck and shoulders, where stress affects major muscle groups. Treatment often brings immediate relief as tensions are eased and fibrous knots and nodules melt away. Efficiency of the circulatory and lymphatic systems improve, toxins are dispersed from tense muscles, and flexibility and fluidity of movement is restored.

Clients remain seated in an upright position during treatment. Although it is possible to perform Indian Head Massage without removing clothing, it’s advisable to wear a vest top or something that allows access to the upper back and shoulders (large bath towels will be provided).

The techniques used in Indian head massage are simple and effective and result in a truly relaxing and energising experience.
